Case Study: Telstra and Jamcracker - Transforming Services Delivery in Australia
+=
Australia’s Leading Telecom Carrier Deploys Jamcracker Services Delivery
Network to Broaden Portfolio of IP Services for Small Businesses
Telstra, Australia's leading telecommunications and information services
company, and Jamcracker, the on-demand services delivery company, have partnered to provide on-demand
software and IP services to small and medium businesses (SMBs)
throughout Australia.
Telstra, which offers fixed and wireless voice services, broadband, and
IPTV, is using the Jamcracker Services Delivery Network (JSDN) to
provide new IP services, including Jamcracker-provided SaaS
applications, bundled with existing Telstra on-demand services. Telstra is also on-boarding local Australian SaaS applications that are not yet
part of the JSDN catalog.
“Small businesses no longer want the expense of having to buy, deploy
and manage their own software. Our partnership with Jamcracker enables us
to deliver a full range of business applications, just as we deliver our
traditional telecom services – as an on-demand service for a monthly
subscription fee.”
Deena Shiff, group managing
director, Telstra Business
Telstra is offering these application services under the T-Suite
brand, alongside traditional mobile and fixed line communications
services, providing name-brand software applications that Telstra
customers can mix and match with voice, data, and internet access
services.
The SaaS Opportunity in Australia
"We see big opportunities in line
with global forecasts. The market is relatively undeveloped and Telstra
is a trusted brand in touch with nearly all Australian businesses. It
fits well with Telstra's growing position as a media-comms company. We
have an online advertising business (Sensis) and Australia's leading
subscription TV service (FOXTEL)."
"Like these businesses, T-Suite is
about providing content, in this case applications, over our pipes. You don't have to be a content creator to build a viable
business."
Putting Theory into Practice
T-Suite Business Applications - Delivered On Demand
The Jamcracker-Telstra partnership is initially delivering services
designed to meet the security and collaboration needs of SMBs. T-Suite’s
first set of services include on-demand security offerings from McAfee
and MessageLabs, online data backup from Iron Mountain, Hosted Exchange
messaging and SharePoint collaboration services from Microsoft, as well
as Microsoft Dynamics hosted CRM.
Why Jamcracker?
"The
time is right for Telstra. We have completely re-built our networks,
moving to a high-capacity IP base, which is also at the centre of our
cell phone network - called Next G. This is the fastest national
wireless network in the world, and will soon be boosted to 21 mbps."
"Jamcracker had a proven track record in SaaS and the ability to help us
scale up T-Suite relatively quickly. It also gives us access to the
Jamcracker catalogue and the ability to leverage a global eco system
of application providers. "
"Telstra is a very aggressive carrier, and they pride themselves on innovation. We're thrilled to be working with Telstra on T-Suite, and our solution partners - McAfee, Microsoft, Iron Mountain, MessageLabs, and many others - are thrilled as well. This has been a win-win for all parties -- and it's only the beginning!"
"Our partnership with Telstra is a perfect example of the value and
speed-to-market Jamcracker provides to our ecosystem partners. By tying into the
Jamcracker Services Delivery Network, carriers can simultaneously supply
on-demand applications directly to small businesses and provide easy to
set-up WebStores that enable their channels of agents and resellers to
make click through sales.”
Steve
Crawford, vice president of marketing for Jamcracker
